Exploring the capabilities of Mathematica V8 as a research and teaching tool.
This workshop is to be held on Wednesday,19/01/2011 from 10:10 to 11:50
Many scientists and engineers still consider Mathematica to be a symbolic algebra package, suitable mostly for pure mathematics applications. This interactive workshop will dispel these misconceptions by highlighting Mathematica's use as a practical research tool in applied sciences and engineering applications.  No other tool on the market provides the range of applications, built into Mathematica - from a vast  curated database covering chemical and physical properties of compounds and elements, to built in grid computing and statistical functionality.  Special attention will be given to creating interactive models  for visualizing data and equations. The workshop will be presented by Clemens Dempers from Blue Stallion Technologies, the distributors of mathematica in Sub Saharan Africa.
